I made a Youtube video with an introduction to my conlang, Carichendan.

I thought maybe some would be interested. I like hearing other peoples' conlangs, so I thought I'd contribute my own. Wink

I just uploaded another lesson today, actually it's lesson 1. The first video was just an introduction.

It's very simple and I'm not using technical terms at all. I hope you like it!

Sounds great!
I think it sounds like a Polinesian language. The way how you form the possessive pronouns (eg. yelen > yelena) reminds me the Croatian genitive case ending -a.

Very well done, Heron!

Mind if I ask what software you used to put the video together? I've been frustrated by how limited iMovie is when it comes to arranging titles...

I liked it, it sounds a bit Arabic or a bit like North American languages.

I like your accent as well! It is hard to place, but I think it is southern?

Hahaha. Hillbilly through and through. Mr. Green I'm from West Virginia. I have an idea in my mind of what Carichendan is supposed to sound like, but I'm sure my own accent gets in the way of me speaking it the way I want it. Funny, I have a foreign accent in my own language!

The relation to Arabic is probably because I am highly influenced by Semitic languages. In fact, I downright stole a bunch of Akkadian words. Wink Mostly I'm making the words up on my own, but I do borrow here and there from random languages, so long as the sound of the word sounds like it fits within the perimeters of Carichendan pronunciation and word make-up. I want Carichendan to contain within it somewhat of a mix of all the cultures of the world, while yet retaining its own distinct sound. Whether I succeed is yet to be seen. ;-)

I'm going to have to study up on North American languages. I started to try learning Mingo one time (an Iroquoian language of West Virginia) but that proved very difficult for my little brain.

Just had a look at your introduction - I like the way you came up with the phrases for 'how are you?' and its replies.
