Hey there, hispanophones(?) of the cbb. I've decided to tackle Spanish. The next paragraph is a brief history of my language learning shenanigans, so skip if you like (read: aren't bored silly).

I've never studied one language extensively. Being American, I've never really needed to. I've studied a few when there were brief opportunities for use, or when I just felt like it, but I never really got proficient in any of them. I realized that until I needed to use a language, I probably wouldn't get anywhere with one, so I stopped studying them. But I bought a little Portuguese grammar book for inspiration on my romlang and thought, "hey, I haven't studied a language in a while, I already have this book, one of my friends is Brazilian, and this language is cool. I'm gonna learn Portuguese." I enjoyed the first few days, but kept thinking that Spanish would be so much more useful for me; I hardly ever see my Brazilian friend and plenty of people speak Spanish in the US, and most of my friends are taking it in school. And I have a Spanish dictionary already, I've heard it was easy, the pronunciation isn't as crazy as Portuguese's, so here I am.
