Is é an rud béag seo téasc a scríobh mé fadó, ach níor cheartaigh aon duine ar bith é.

Dia daoibh arís,
Níor cheartaigh aon duine mo théacs is déanaí, ach b'fhada ó shin.
Mar labhair mé, tá mé i ngrá le Ioslainn, agus anois, tá sé go cinnte go bhfuil mé ag dul go hIoslainn ar feadh míosa is deich lá! Beidh mé i mo chónaí ag baile mo dhlúthcharad Birna, mar seo, níl orm íoc as béilte agus óstlann ar bith. Táim an-chorraithe faoin eachtra seo. Bhí mé ag fanacht léis an rud seo ó bhí mé léanbh beag.
Beidh mé ag imigh go luath go leor. Ar ndóigh, bíonn agam oícheanna gan chodladh.
Smaoiním go, le déanamh iarracht ar díriú m’Ioslainnis, d’éirigh mé tuirseach uirthi, agus anois, ba mhaith liom cuimhnigh ar phíosa beag den Ghaeilge. Tá súil agam nach rinne mé an iomarca dearmaid uirthi!

No, Egein is correct, I mean Irish Gaelic. Irish is "Gaeilge", Scottish is "Gàidhlig", and Manx is "Gaelg".

That's right.

And if you want to talk about the OTHER Gaelic (such as Gaelic of Scotland, Gaelic of Ireland or of Isle of Man) the Gaels say "Gàidhlig na h-Éireann", "Gàidhlig na h-Alba" and "Gàidhlig na Mhànainn". Smile

In Irish, I think it's "Gaeilge na hAlba", etc...

Is mac léinn ollscoile as Éirinn mé. Tá Gaeilge na hÉireann agamsa. Ní cainteoir ó dhúchas mé ach tá mé ag ath-fhoghlaim na teanga mar ba bhreá lem' chroí Gaeilge líofa a bheith agam lá éigin agus 'sí mo bhrionglóid, mo chlann a thógáil le Gaoluinn.*

I'm a university student from Ireland. I speak Irish Gaelic. I am not a native speaker but I am re-learning the language because I would love you speak fluent Irish some day and it's my dream to raise my children through Munster Irish.

Chan eil mòran Gàidhlig na h-Alba agam ach tha mi ag ionnsachadh! :-)**

I don't speak much Scottish Gaelic but I am learning! :-)

Tha mise coltach riutsa, ach san dòigh eile -- 's e Gàidhlig na h-Alba a th' agam, agus 's e Gàidhlig na h-Èireann a tha mi ag ionnsachadh! Very Happy
I'm similar to you, but in the other way -- I speak Scottish Gaelic and I'm learning Irish!

I was actually really inspired at the NAACLT conference in June to work on my Irish -- I was amazed at how much I understood. It turns out I have quite a decent passive understanding of Irish from having studied Scottish Gaelic and Manx! So I'm really making an effort now to work on my Irish. Though I still understand a lot more than I can say.
